Giveaway Winner
Sunday came and left and we were left with the hard task of picking a giveaway winner. As with the featured artist (which we have to pick tomorrow) contest, picking a winner is always hard because you guys/gals always link such amazing shops. Yet, we knew what we had to do, so we got our hands dirty and picked our winner. We are proud to announce that the etsy member "Giftbearer" is our winner, with her promotion of "Celiefago's" shop. If people don't remember the rules, just scroll down to the giveaway post and everything will be made clear. Giftbearer will get a free print of her choice from our featured artist, Wade Solowoniuk. kit and caboodle
Kit and Caboodle describes itself as "...online network of contemporary jewellery makers, galleries, bloggers, teachers, students, outlets. join, network and show your work." The way we describe it is, "Unlike most jewelry blogs, which consist mostly of galleries and no content, it is refreshing to find a site that mixes both." The blog is full of great info, that is updated daily, if not hourly and has wonderful articles. We also find it a great resource for our etsy shop and we hope it helps you as well...pass the word on....FFFFOUND!
FFFFOUND! is the second social image posting/bookmarking site we will feature and it is massive. If you have never seen a site like this, it is a must-see, especially if you are into photography. I came across it by word of mouth some time ago and have seen it grow in the last 3 month by leaps and bounds. The members post some amazing pictures and it makes you think if they just spend all day scowering the internet for the most unique things they can find. As with all these sites, it is members only to post, but anyone can view the images. Keep an eye open because they do open up registration once and a while, so don't loose out.
Treasury Time-March 27th

Here we go again!! On the 1st of April, we will pick our 2nd Featured Artist....so get those posts going!!! The artist that is picked will have their work shown in our gallery, along with a bio and contact info. To enter, you do not need to be a jewelry maker-we accept all artists and do not be afraid to post for an artist that you think is amazing. Here are the rules:Post a comment in this blog entry and with it leave a link to the site you wish to enter into the contest (make sure to post the link including http://...) You are allowed to post one picture in the blog, if you wish but please do not post more, as it slows the site from loading. Our first giveaway is brought to you by one of our first featured artists. Wade Solowoniuk has been nice enough to give us a free 8x10 print from his collection, which is housed here. We in turn have decided to pass this amazing gift on to you, in our first blog giveaway. Now, there are a couple of rules and they are as follows. The anticipation is over and here are the Featured Artists of the Week!!! Like earlier posted (WoW Blog) the choice for the featured artist was so hard and the participation so great (50+ posts in 24 hours) that we had to pick two people. This is the beauty and the curse of having such a competition but we are up for the challenge-rock on Etsy!!
Make sure to stop by and see our featured artists, Marina Lampropoulou and Wade Solowoniuk because Etsy works on the basis of supporting each other. They are both amazingly talented artists, working in different mediums and from different parts of the world. It is beautiful to see how art can bridge people together-always amazes me. As for the wonderful artists that did not make it into the FAOTW, we have a little surprise....check the bellow blog post.
Etsy Treasury-March 18th
We were lucky enough to sneak into a treasury this week and guess what....we decided to use artists who posted to our blog but did not make it into our featured artist competition. The treasury turned out to be amazing and the feedback has been great, check it out.
At the same time, we were lucky enough to be featured in two treasuries this week as well.....WOW!!! You can see them here and here, don't forget to post a comment. Even though the week has been hectic, it has been so amazing and we hope this is a trend that will continue
WoW Blog
WoW is all we can say!!!! We always believed that having featured artists on the blog was a great idea, both for you and for us but we were shocked to see how many people turned out to post. It has been amazing and the over 50 posts in 24 hours prove that having this as a weekly event will rock. The only downside has been trying to pick the artist itself from all the amazing people that posted. In fact, the decision was so hard, that we decided to have two artists this week. For the people that did not make it, make sure to post again for the coming week and I will make the rules a little more clear with a post later this week. Dropular
Dropular is the first social image posting/bookmarking site we have featured and while it is not as large as ffffound, it has a more personal feel to it. If you have never seen a site like this, it is a must-see, especially if you are into photography. Also, keep an eye open because they do open up registration once and a while, so don't loose out. Dropular is a media bookmarking service loosely based on the idea of a droplet contributing to a pool, filling it ever-so slightly one by one. This amazing tool lets you discover, remember and share images, videos and links - all in one place.
Klimt02
Klimt02 is part of our K00L list, check out the site. The intention when creating Klimt02 was to show the work of contemporary artists and all those things that generates from it and can be found around this subject: know to inform, and to be informed to know. Klimt02 proposes a selection based in very specific artistic principles, and in working together with contemporary jewellery world experts. Setting up a place where information can be attained, seen, found, contributed, consulted or swapped is the starting point of this project, which a part from that, would fill up a nowadays empty and disperse space with regard to this subject.
VELVET DA VINCI
Velvet is part of our K00L list: Opened in 1991, Velvet da Vinci (our name inspired by an old Perry Mason television episode) is a gallery of contemporary craft specializing in artist jewelry and metalwork. We are proud to announce a new section to our blog and I am sure you will love it as well. Each week we will have a featured artist and a small collection of their work, both here and in our gallery. There will be a small bio and some background about the artist but mostly it is about the work. While many of the artists will be jewelry makers, this is not set in stone and we wish artists from all trades to participate. While we will pick from week to week, do not be afraid to voice your opinion and even vote for yourself. We take all and everything under consideration. P.S.
